The Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG) is a major international theatre organisation. The company is widely recognised for its market leadership in theatre ticketing services.
In this case study, discover how Hoolr revolutionised coaching practices at ATG, addressing challenges and unlocking new possibilities for talent development.
ATG's Group Head of Talent Development, Paul Williamson shares insights into the journey, showcasing the positive impact Hoolr has made in fostering a coaching culture and driving organisational success.
Prior to using Hoolr, matching coachees to coaches, tracking progress and reporting on impact relied upon manual processes, feedback surveys and a variety of communication methods to gather often quite limited data. The ability to gain oversight about how much coaching was taking place within the organisation and gauge how successful it was, largely relied on anecdotal feedback and retrospective data gleaned via periodic surveys. We have a very small Learning & Development team, so the process in the past heavily relied on one individual using numerous, often manual systems, which was not ideal.
As a passionate advocate for coaching, I’m committed to the idea of creating a coaching culture at ATG. Coaching skills feature in our management training and in all our leadership development programmes. We have invested in a group of our managers, and they have become qualified coaches (funded by the business) and we provide supervision for this group too. Behind this strategy, for me, sits a belief that people are ‘creative, resourceful and whole’ (as articulated in the Co-Active coaching model). In the context of organisational life, this should translate through into leadership behaviour – where curiosity is nurtured, questions asked, ideas welcomed and listened to, and teams empowered to do their best work. This virtuous circle should then lead to a greater sense of belonging and fulfilment at work, higher levels of engagement, greater innovation, a good balance of challenge and support, which ultimately generates greater productivity that delivers commercial results for the business.
Hoolr has allowed us to offer coaching out to a much broader section of the organisation. It’s made the business of matching coachees to coaches much more straightforward and less time consuming. It is also providing us with the opportunity to get a proper sense of the impact coaching has on individuals and the business as a whole - by generating statistics and tracking progress.
The launch of the platform coincided with the creation of our new internal coaching faculty. All our internal coaches have completed a coaching qualification and are coaching in addition to their main job. Hoolr allows us to monitor how much coaching takes place across the organisation, who is coaching the most/least – giving us information to inform conversations around capacity and CPD requirements.
Hoolr enables members of the coaching faculty to log the coaching they do and keep track of progress they are making with their clients. The prompt to record notes after each session and the capacity to review these ahead of the next session is hugely valuable. This also provides information at your fingertips to review and bring to supervision which directly impacts on the quality of coaching you’re able to provide.
As a coach Hoolr allows me to record and store my notes securely, improve the quality and depth of my post-session reflections, and track more consistently the progress my clients are making.
Hoolr gives ATG the ability to generate statistics and reports to track coaching activity. It vastly improves the administrative side of matching and organising sessions, providing a place where all stages and aspects of coaching activity can be managed and stored in one place. In short, Hoolr makes offering coaching to more people in our organisation far easier and professionalises the offer.
Hoolr allows us to build a compelling business case for maintaining and increasing investment in coaching for the collective good of the business. It enables us to gather and share statistics and data to tell a success story that we can continue to build on and grow for the future benefit of individuals, teams, and the business as a whole.
Hoolr is a leading coaching platform that connects individuals and organizations with qualified coaches, facilitating personalized coaching sessions and driving transformative growth. With its advanced features and user-friendly interface, Hoolr empowers coaches and coachees to achieve their goals, enhance their skills, and unlock their full potential.
